TinyPRD vs Specd

TinyPRD keeps it minimal. Specd keeps it minimal and structural — enforcing feature limits, generating build orders, and formatting output for AI coding tools.

The key difference

TinyPRD generates short PRDs. So does Specd. The difference is what "minimal" means to each tool.

TinyPRD's minimalism is about output length — shorter documents, faster to read. Specd's minimalism is structural: the output is constrained to 5 features by a schema validation layer that rejects outputs with more. That's a fundamentally different constraint, and it produces a different kind of document.

A Specd PRD includes sections that TinyPRD doesn't: a sequenced build order (what to build first), a file structure tailored to your tech stack, a database schema, and an architecture diagram in Mermaid format. These sections are what AI coding tools like Cursor and Claude Code need to start building without asking clarifying questions.

If you're writing PRDs to share with stakeholders, TinyPRD is fine. If you're writing PRDs to paste into an AI coding tool and start building, Specd is purpose-built for that workflow.
